Dear Ray School Families,

We started the week with a wonderful celebration of community. Thank you to Captain Michael Gilbert (Hanover Fire Department), Officer Nenia Burns (Hanover Police Department), Amanda Yates (RMS Associate Principal), and Sylvie Alexander (HHS student) for making time in your schedules to come visit us this week as part of our Kids and Community program. Kids and Community will continue over the next 4 weeks. By the end of this program, 25 community members will have visited our school to meet the children. Sets of trading cards are handed out each week - and will be brought home at the end of the 5 week event. The goal of this program is to unite our community and begin to build lasting relationships with community helpers and role models. A huge thank you to the “Friends of Hanover-Norwich Schools" for underwriting the program this year.

NHPIE - Blue Ribbon Award 2015-16
We are proud to announce that the Ray School has been awarded the 2015/16 Blue Ribbon Award for volunteering for 35 years in a row!

After School Changes
If your child has long-term after school changes, please fill out the After School Plans form.  This will help us simplify our dismissal process and avoid miscommunication. Please do this each time long-term changes are made.  For individual day changes like a play date, please continue to send in a note with your child.

Walk to School Day

On Wednesday, October 5th, we will take part in National Walk/Bike to School Day. Bike riders come to school on their own schedule. Walkers meet at specific places, and walk to school in a group.  We do not have designated adults to walk from each meeting spot, so please consider taking a walk with your child to ensure safety. Click here for more information and the schedule.

Fire Safety Day

Another huge THANK YOU is in order to members of the Hanover Fire Department for spending Monday with us to highlight fire safety. In addition to showing us their gear, ambulance, and tower truck, they also held an all school assembly to speak about the following safety ideas:

  • 911 is the number to call for any emergency.

  • We all need working smoke detectors in our homes.

  • We should stop, drop and roll if something we are wearing catches on fire.

  • What is your family plan if the smoke detector goes off at home? Do you have a family meeting place outside?

Please consider the above as talking points to follow up on with your children.

Enjoy the weekend!

Kevin and Lauren
