Dear Ray School Families,

We hope your three day weekend was full of family and fun. Though our week was only four days long, so much happened in the building! The Ray School Staff and students have brought such energy and fun to the week and we are eagerly anticipating our first full week of Monday through Friday classes!

For our spotlight this week, we are highlighting our kindergarten through fifth grade Spanish program. Ana Utell and Silvia Holman have been hard at work bringing language and culture into every classroom. Please read about it below!

This year, the Ray School students will be learning Spanish in grades K-5.  Our goal is to make  learning fun while building a strong foundation for the future.

Each level contains thematic units featuring the skills that we wish to develop for each grade level. We are also focusing on making connections with classroom curriculum to make learning more intentional for our students. We teach by using games, songs and body movements, creating an authentic environment to make learning a language both fun and meaningful.

We are both native speakers with several years of combined experience teaching at the elementary level. On our webpage, we will continue to inform you about what we had been doing during Spanish class.  Please visit our site so you can practice with your child at home.

¡Hasta Pronto!

Señora Utell & Señora Holman

Drop Off

Your continued support with our morning drop off is much appreciated. Here is the daily morning routine:

  • 7:40 Morning playground supervision begins
  • 7:50 Whistle to begin lining up
  • 7:55 Bell for students to enter the building
  • 8:00 Students are in classrooms, ready to begin their day!
Also to note, please pull all the way around the loop before dropping off and do not park in the drop-off loop. If you need to get out of the car to assist your child, please use a marked parking spot in the parking area. As a reminder, your child should be prepared to exit the car from the door on the right side of the car so they can safely step onto the sidewalk and not out into traffic. Since students will be exiting from the right, drivers are encouraged to pull out of the loop and pass other cars as necessary to keep traffic flowing. This means there may be 2 lanes of traffic in the loop. Please be mindful of speed and moving vehicles before pulling out. Thank you for your help in expediting our safe morning drop-offs!

Please note that the H9 bus route has changed and will be effective Monday, September 12th.  You can view the routes here.

Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you on Monday for our first full week of school!
