Dear Ray School Families,

Fall has certainly arrived with cooler temperatures and beautiful fall foliage. We hope you enjoyed your long weekend!

Some highlights from our 4 day week included: K/1 Open House, 5th grade field trip to the Hanover Waste Water Treatment Plant, another wonderful sing-along, fun "Me Collage" projects in second grade, map skills and continent travels in third grade, and novel reports in fourth grade.

Our Kids and Community continues, and in this third week of the program we welcomed a few new guests. On our cards this week, we had Firefighter Scott Letson, Mahler Meyerrose (HHS student), Dispatcher Kevin LaHaye and DPW worker John LaHaye all in to visit. Kevin and John LaHaye are a father-son team. They explained how Kevin may call John for help when we need roads plowed or have other town problems where DPW can be of service to us. Many children got to climb through John’s HUGE truck and seven classes had visits with Mahler or Firefighter Scott through art and PE. We also had 5 firefighters join us for Sing-Along. Though featured on the cards this week, Sgt. Ballard was not able to visit as he has recently been switched to the night shift. Other officers have visited with children each day, one day allowing interested children the opportunity to sit in their car and see their flashing blue lights.

In addition to folks who have been featured on our cards, Police Chief Charlie Dennis, Officer Shannon Kuehlwein, Lt. Brad Sargent, Officer Ryan Kennett, Sgt. Bates, and Lt Scott Rathburn have also all visited in the past 2 weeks, as have Firefighter Jay Whitehair and Firefighter Troy Leatherman. We had Wanda Bowers, a representative from the NH Division of Emergency Services and Communication, visit three second grade classes to practice how to call 911 in the case of emergency. All of these community helpers were either on cards last year or will be in the next 3 weeks. Thank you to the police and fire departments for supporting our school and community!

Enjoy the weekend,
Kevin and Lauren
