Dear Ray School Families,
One of the goals of the School Board this year is to reduce student stress. At the School Board meeting on Wednesday, our school counselors presented an overview of the programs that they offer for our students to help manage stress. Therefore, we are recognizing School Counselors Pam Graham and Karen Strickland this week. Our school counselors teach K-5 Affective Education lessons, offer individual and group counseling, and work with staff and parents for various consultations. They work with student assessment systems, support and encourage better interpersonal relationships, promote positive attitudes, and assist people in accessing community resources. In all these things, they coordinate their efforts with other school specialists to provide the most support possible to those that need it. For more information about what our school counselors do for our students, staff, and community, please visit their website. You will find book recommendations, links to pertinent topics, and more detailed information about programming.
Haven Helper Update
As a community we CAN make a difference! Your generosity has helped the Upper Valley Haven support local families. In October we donated 67 pounds of tuna, in November we donated 310 pounds of assorted food, and in December we donated 55 pounds of food and 86 pounds of socks and underwear. We are proud to be part of such a supportive community.
Principal Search Update
Please see this letter from Dr. Bass with an update on the Principal search. You can review each candidate's resume by clicking on the name.
Candidate Visit Schedule - Jenny Chambers is graciously offering free babysitting from 4:45pm - 6:30pm in the high school chorus room so parents can attend the 5:00pm open house style meeting in the Ray School library. Unfortunately she is unable to accommodate children younger than kindergarten age. She will be showing a G rated movie, but asks that parents provide a drink and snack for their child.
Spirit DaysNext weekend is the Superbowl! We are encouraging students and staff to wear any sports jersey or t-shirt to celebrate our Ray School Team on Friday.
Students must be supervised after hours on school grounds. If your child would like to stay on the grounds after school, please make sure a designated adult is also present to monitor play. Thank you for your help in keeping students safe!
RMS Transition Meeting
Informational Meeting for RMS Transition for Ray School 5th Grade Parents: March 21st 6-7 PM, Ray School Multi Purpose Room. Please join the RMS School Counselors, John LaCrosse and Liz Powers, as well as Principal Mike Lepene and Associate Principal Amanda Yates for a Q & A session. This initial meeting for parents of current 5th graders will help answer questions about topics including choosing classes, the schedule, the elective program, and the structure of middle school teams. We hope to see you there!
Enjoy the weekend!
