Dear Families,

We hope you enjoy the three day weekend. We will not have school on Memorial Day and will see everyone back at school on Tuesday.

As a reminder, this is the final week our annual survey will be available. So far, 94 families have responded. We appreciate your feedback and hope to have many more responses by the time the survey closes on Friday, June 2. The survey will take only 5-10 minutes to complete. If you have more than one child at the Ray School, please take the survey once (or once per child if you feel that your responses for each child will differ). The survey can be found via the web at: Annual Ray School Family Survey or you may request a paper copy from the Ray School office.

Babysitting (Tonight) Friday at Marion Cross School (fundraiser for HHS Hope for Haiti Club)
Since the last two were such successes, this Friday, May 26th, the Hope for Haiti Club at Hanover High School will be offering a final babysitting service before the school year ends from 5pm to 9pm at the Marion Cross School. During these 4 hours, HHS students will be serving pizza and snacks, and offering many activities including coloring, playing games, crafts, and a movie. The cost is $20 for the service with an additional $10 for each additional child in a family. You may drop off and pick up your child at any time between 5pm and 9pm. The Hope for Haiti Club is dedicated to helping build a school in Bois D’Avril, Haiti. For more information about our project, please feel free to click on the link. Any questions can be directed to Jean Vigneault at jean.vigneault@hanovernorwichschools.org or Tessa Cahoon at tessacahoon@hanovernorwichschools.org.

Literacy Night
Congratulations to Marley Partridge in Mrs. Atherley's kindergarten class, Gabriel del Pino in Mrs. McCoy's first grade class, and Nora Partridge in Mrs. Richardson's second grade class for winning the Norwich Bookstore gift certificates! Thank you to Joanne Sergeant, teacher volunteers, the PTO, the Howe librarians, and the Norwich bookstore for supporting this event.

1st Grade Chicks
All of the first grade classrooms participated in chick hatching. Below is a photo of the chicks that hatched in Mrs. McCoy's class after twenty one days in the incubator. The students enjoyed having the chicks in the classroom and watching them grow but are bidding them a fond farewell today.

End of Year Notes

  • Last Day of School - The last day of school will be Thursday, June 22nd at noon.

2nd Grade Sing Along with Parents
Parents and family members are invited to attend second grade Sing Along on Wednesday, June 14th.  Guests will be seated at 10:55am and will conclude at 11:25am.  Come sing some old favorites from K/1 Sing Along and learn some new songs as well.

5th Grade Parent Meeting @ RMS
RMS staff will be hosting a meeting for parents of incoming 6th grade students Tuesday, May 30th from 6:00-7:00pm in the RMS auditorium. Current 6th grade teachers and administrative staff will be talking about the 6th grade experience and answering questions that parents may have. Following the presentation we will be giving a school tour. The presentation is geared to parents as students will have an opportunity to visit later in the year. Please contact RMS school counselors Liz Powers and John LaCrosse with questions.

From the Art Department
Robin Henry, one of Ray School's art teachers, discovered the site Plum Print on the blog Artful Parent. It looks like a great way to save children's artwork (and schoolwork in general) over the years. As the school year winds up (or down!) and you may want to create a book or two over the summer of your child's work. They would make great gifts, too.
